Amigo Paco, se equivoca usted. El título de la novela está extraido de un poema de John Donne que dice:

[...]and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee[...]

Esto significa, "por tanto nunca preguntes por quién dobla la campana; dobla por ti". Como verá, el acento gráfico no es incorrecto en este caso.
