Muy buena película de F Trueba, que nos cuenta una historia entrañable y divertida que igual que viene se va, dejándonos una agradable sensación en el cuerpo. Y entre medias, un elenco de lujo capitaneados por el difunto F Fernán Gómez y con G Diego en la retaguardia.
La historia transcurre en un pueblito "de algún lugar de España" al que llega nuestro protagonista, un pillo con cara de no haber roto nunca un plato, quien conocerá a Manolo con quien compartirá dominó, alcohol, pucheros, lecturas e, incluso, cama (pero en el buen sentido, si es que lo hay). La cosa se anima justo cuando llegan de Madrid las cuatro hijas de su nuevo amigo, cada cual más maciza... Nuestro fácilmente enamoradizo protagonista tendrá sus más y sus menos con todas, hasta elegir finalmente a una. No cabe duda, de que es ciertamente una "belle epoque".
