FilmAffinity is useful because it focuses on helping you decide what to watch in a smarter, more personalized way than most movie sites. Here’s what makes it stand out: 1. Highly personalized recommendations. FilmAffinity builds a very accurate taste profile based on your ratings. It compares your votes with thousands of other users. Then suggests films & shows that people with similar taste loved. This “affinity” system is by far more precise than generic algorithms.

You can choose your profile privacy: totally private, partially private or totally public.
-It will be totally private if you just register, but you don't publish any reviews or lists, and you don't share your username. However: if you are a Movie Soulmate for some users, they can view your ratings.

- It will be partially private if you only rate movies and make lists, but you don't write any reviews. Again, only friends who know your username or Movie Soulmates can access your profile.

- It will be totally public if you write reviews. You can also add personal details and other accounts such as Facebook or Twitter to your profile so users can follow you everywhere!

Your Movie Soulmates are registered users whose movie ratings match yours. An algorithm will find your matches based on your own personal movie ratings and those by other users. By finding your Movie Soulmates, you'll be able to check out their ratings for a particular movie before you watch it, or find new stuff to watch!

You can add any user to your friends simply by searching for their username (not their nickname). The username is unique and it is not public anywhere on the website. You can also add any user whose reviews you might have liked, so you can follow them. You can do this by clicking on their personal page.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for you to know who has added you as a friend (as it might be thousands of people). You can follow who you like and be followed by those who find your profile interesting without having to send or accept requests!

If you haven't received your activation email, just check your spam folder. It will probably be there!

As you might have noticed, the number of movies and TV series recommendations suggested by your Movie Soulmates can be quite high. That's why you can 'ignore recommendations'. You should use this option if you don't want a particular movie or TV show to appear again on your feed. If you would like to access your full list of ignored recommendations and change it, just go to 'My data'.

If you're not interested in receiving any more movie recommendations, just ignore them as they turn up!

Of course! Just send us an internal message or an email. If you want to help us as a collaborator you can send us a message with the subject 'FA Collaborator', although only veteran users will be considered.

Your votes will always be available in your personal account for any user who visits your profile to view. For all information regarding average ratings for films and series, please refer to Filmaffinity's Terms of Use, which explain this topic in detail.

Unsubscribing is very easy: You can unsubscribe yourself from your profile: see link in "Personal data".

Unsubscribing from your account will result in the total deletion of all your account information, with no possibility to recover it. Filmaffinity DOES NOT KEEP ANY DATA of the unsubscribed accounts.
