Interesante película con un planteamiento muy ingenioso que envuelve todo el relato, un desarrollo irregular ahogado por sus propias vísceras y un desenlace vertiginoso y polémico. Primera aproximación española al subgénero “slasher” con todo su abanico de virtudes y defectos, humor negro, escenas grotescas, pero con un construcción simple, hilarante y precipitada de la historia.

El hoyo es evidentemente una metáfora del ascensor social. En el hoyo no se hallan solo delincuentes, sino que también personas que necesitan favores de la Administración como es el caso del título homologado que requiere el protagonista para trabajar.
El hoyo, por tanto, es transversal con personas mayores de dieciséis años de diferentes etnias, rasgos y objetivos. Es una representación gráfica, material y sencilla de cómo se compone la sociedad mediante clases sociales.
El planteamiento es ingenioso porqué utiliza el pan (en jerga bíblica la comida) para representar el sistema de solidaridad que se establecen entre los diferentes estamentos de este ascensor. Además, añade una variable a la crítica y es la incertidumbre del cambio, es decir, los residentes cada mes despiertan en un piso diferente. Este hecho se puede interpretar como una crítica al capitalismo salvaje y su azar mitológico del perder y del ganar sin red que garantice una subsistencia mínima al ser. El protagonista se despierta en los niveles bajos y tiene que luchar por sobrevivir practicando el canibalismo porqué es su única forma de supervivencia.
Hasta aquí la película es muy interesante, aunque a mi personalmente me divierte más que no provoca, río con los comentarios chuscos de los protagonistas (obviamente en la primera relación entre Iván y Zorion) pero entonces llega el desconcierto general:
- Antonia San Juan. Es la segunda compañera que aparece en el relato como símbolo de la fe incondicional al sistema y que se acaba suicidando al cabo de pocos minutos por la decepción hacia la utilidad de este y porqué pierde la esperanza con la solidaridad humana. Este personaje no se desarrolla bien psicológicamente, no es creíble que el suicidio sea tan repentino y aparece como otra broma macabra y poco seria.
- El tercer recluso, Emilio Buale. Aguerrido y valiente aparece como el compañero ideal para urdir el fantástico plan que nos tiene preparado el protagonista. Un personaje que pasa en pocos segundos de querer subir al piso de arriba con su cuerda a matar incondicionalmente por creerse la propuesta de redistribución del protagonista, tópico ingenuo.
- La mujer misteriosa que viene con la comida. Se tiene que nombrar porqué forma parte del final de la parábola.
- El gran plan. No es otro que bajar espontáneamente de forma desinteresada por solidaridad con el resto de reclusos para forzar que racionalicen sus raciones o hagan ayuno en pro de la supervivencia comuna. Aquí hay una crítica a la imposición de la solidaridad por la fuerza, qué básicamente apunta a los sistemas redistributivos utópicos, al entender que son contra natura.
- La caída a los infiernos. Mientras bajan por el ascensor obligando a racionalizar la comida se dan cuenta (gracias a un tío mulato en silla de ruedas -DEUS EX MACHINA-) que con su idea lo único que conseguirán los protagonistas es mantener el statu quo del engranaje del hoyo y que por tanto esencialmente no cambiarán nada. Además es muy costoso imponer la solidaridad a hostias. Por tanto, si quieren cambiar tienen que traer un mensaje a la gente de arriba que pone la mesa, este mensaje es inicialmente una panacota. La panacota significa “nos hemos cansado de comernos vuestras migajas”, un símbolo de sublevación. Este símbolo se substituye porque corre el rumor que hay una niña desnutrida en el último nivel. Es un anzuelo para demostrar que si hay alguien tan loco como para bajar al fondo, el sacrificio que haga servirá como símbolo de la solidaridad humana y encenderá la mecha de la revolución, con la niña como estandarte, ascendiendo literalmente por todas las clases sociales subyugadas.
Pero finalmente no triunfa porqué da entender que alguien antes ya había hecho este mismo acto de solidaridad (véase mujer misteriosa) y el protagonista enloquece y muere en el hoyo. Final de la parábola. El sistema no puede cambiar.
Una película interesante, pero con pretensiones por encima de sus posibilidades. Obvio.
