In 1941, New York intellectual playwright Barton Fink comes to Hollywood to write a Wallace Beery wrestling picture. Staying in the eerie Hotel Earle, Barton develops severe writer's block. His neighbor, jovial insurance salesman Charlie Meadows, tries to help, but Barton continues to struggle as a bizarre sequence of events distracts him even further from his task.

Barton Fink es una gran película, nos adentra en esos desiertos y esplendores interiores que representa el arte de crear, de escribir, de comprender el sufrimiento y los infiernos interiores, que cada ser humano puede llegar a padecer. Pero los hermanos Coen van mas allá y mediante metáforas y analogías nos dejan un espacio abierto para replantear nuestras propias vidas con esos anhelos y esperanzas que todos tenemos. Grandes actuaciones de John Turturro y John Goodman, excelente dirección, fotografía y guión. Una película diferente y magistral en la forma de plasmar la angustia y satisfacción de crear.
