La primera película dirigida por Andrew V. McLaglen con John Wayne fue una comedia ambientada en el salvaje Oeste que, para estar dirigida por un cineasta tan mediocre y rutinario como el que nos ocupa, no está mal, y hasta cuenta con momentos divertidos, como el intento de subida de las escaleras de su casa por parte de un Wayne borracho. El resultado general se beneficia de la química que había entre Wayne y Maureen O'Hara, que por eso hicieron varias películas juntos, y de un buen elenco de actores secundarios.
