A four-million-year-old black monolith is discovered on the moon, and the government (while hiding the situation from the public) sends a team of scientists on a fact-finding mission. Eighteen months later, another team is sent to Jupiter in a ship controlled by the perfect HAL 9000 computer to further investigate the giant object--but on this trip something goes terribly wrong.

Básicamente es lo que pone el título de esta crítica y es que la película sin ser una obra maestra, para mí desde luego es una buena película. Los efectos especiales más que decentes para la época. Los actores tampoco es que hagan un gran papel porque básicamente parecen todos actores secundarios. El actor principal son los efectos especiales.
El final y esos últimos 15 minutos psicodélicos te dejan mal sabor de boca, a mí no me terminaron de gustar se nota que fue un relleno final.
