La sombra de la novela de Lowry se alarga inevitablemente sobre toda la película y, bajo el enorme peso de una de las obras cumbre de la narrativa contemporánea, la cinta se convierte en una historia simplona con personajes desdibujados sin el menor interés. Totalmente prescindible.
