La película a ratos se hace un poco lenta y monótona pero, en general, mantiene el suspense.
Christian Bale se merece un gran reconocimiento, no solo por su asombroso cambio físico, sino también por su actuación.
'El maquinista' es una película psicológica sobre la paranoia del ser humano, el arrepentimiento, y los mecanismos de defensa de la mente. Tiene guiños culturales y detalles muy cuidados que cobran sentido.
Como recomendación, mejor verla en versión original porque el doblaje es bastante malo.
