In 1957 New York City, Rudolf Abel is arrested and charged with spying for the Soviet Union. Insurance lawyer James B. Donovan (Tom Hanks) is appointed to defend Abel, so that Abel's trial will be seen as fair. Los hermanos Coen garantizan la calidad de un guión muy bien organizado, apelando a una mecánica muy hábil de narración. También la marcación de los actores es muy adecuada. En consecuencia el producto sobresale de la medianía con el oficio que le sabe agregar Spielberg a sus producciones.
