Drama Martinique, in the early 1930s. This is the story of a young boy who is orphaned at the age of 11 and sent to live with his grandmother, who works on one of the island's sugar cane plantations. Though he is bright, she realizes he has no future if he stays on the plantation. Vale la pena ver esta película. Primero, por la preciosa fotografía, muy lograda sobre todo por el uso continuo y diverso de los colores anaranjados. Y, cómo no, por la historia que narra, sencilla pero emotiva y bien contada. Además, tiene un valor documental, por cómo narra la vida en la Martinica colonial, la explotación racial y económica de los blancos y la vida cotidiana de los negros en las plantaciones de caña de azúcar. Una película valiosa en varios sentidos.
