Synopsis

TV series (2017-2018). 2 seasons. 20 episodes. Series that chronicles the beginnings of the so-called 'stand-up comedy' that emerged in Los Angeles in the 1970s, when it began to gain in popularity and established itself as a launching pad for many of the comedians who would later become comedy stars. The series follows a diverse group of Los Angeles comedians who have their common ground around Goldie (Melissa Leo). Owner of The Basement, the city's most iconic comedy club, Goldie runs her business with an iron fist and tries to take loving but firm care of her comedians. Not just anyone gets on her stage, and only the most experienced are kept on.
