Synopsis

TV Miniseries (2013). 3 Episodes. It tells the story of five German friends, aged around 20, on their different paths through Nazi Germany and World War II. Level-headed, highly decorated officer Wilhelm (Volker Bruch) is off to the eastern front with his younger brother Friedhelm (Tom Schilling), a sensitive dreamer more interested in literature than warfare. Deeply in love with Wilhelm is Charlotte, called Charly (Miriam Stein), a young nurse who looks forward to serve in the Wehrmacht, also on the eastern front. While Greta (Katherina Schüttler) is a talented singer who longs to become another Marlene Dietrich; her Jewish boyfriend Viktor (Ludwig Trepte) still cannot convince his parents to leave Germany. They promise to get together after the war, but it will change their lives forever.
