- Synopsis
- In 1985, St. Augustine's School in the South Bronx took a page from the TV show Fame, and a page from Sister Act and came up with a winning formula of their own. Actually, they thought it up without any help from those two sources. The school had so few students it was in danger of being closed, and its leadership sought out a gifted music teacher and shifted its focus from traditional academics to preparing interested and gifted children to make significant progress in the study of music and art. As a consequence, the school now has a heady multi-ethnic mix of highly motivated students, beginning at kindergarten and continuing through to the eighth grade. This inspiring film is a documentary about the school and its makeover.
