- Synopsis
- Berik is a sixteen-minute short film set in Semey, Kazakhstan. The eponymous hero is blind and deformed due to radiation poisoning. He spends his days at home alone, while his brother is at work. To pass the time, Berik gazes out the window and plays the lute. Sometimes he steps out onto the apartment landing for a solitary smoke. One day Adil, a small and unpopular kid, turns up on Berik's doorstep looking for the local bully’s football, which he has lost. Thus is the world transformed for two outcasts.
