Visconti consigue quizás lo más difícil en esta adaptación: captar la apatía del personaje y la soporífera atmósfera presentes en la obra de Camus. Me quedo con la primera parte de la película, con esa insoladora sala de blancos en la que el protagonista vela a su madre. También con la fascinante presencia de Mastroianni.
