Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) is a divorced dockworker and less-than-perfect father. Soon after his ex-wife (Miranda Otto) and her new husband drop off his teenage son Robbie (Justin Chatwin) and young daughter Rachel (Dakota Fanning) for a rare weekend visit, a strange and powerful lightning storm touches down. De lo peor que he visto en mucho tiempo. Carece totalmente de argumento, diálogo e interés de ningún tipo y huele a americanismo rancio.
En definitiva, el tipo de cine que sobra en EEUU. Si buscas algo que no sea la típica americanada, no veas esto.
