The Big Short cuenta de una forma divertidísimamente cruel la crisis financiera de 2008. Con cuatro (cinco en realidad, porque dos van en el mismo pack) protagonistas que descubren que los grandes bancos, los medios de comunicación y el gobierno se niegan a reconocer que hay una burbuja inmobiliaria. Que se están concediendo hipotecas de alto riesgo, de interés variable y sin ningún tipo de contemplación ni filtro. El sector inmobiliario es seguro, ¿cómo no va a pagar la gente las hipotecas? (Es genial, en serio.) El caso es que cuando se dan cuenta de que el mercado inmobiliario va a bajar, deciden apostar contra él.
