Action. Drama
Lincoln Hawk (Stallone) is a struggling trucker who's trying to rebuild his life. After the death of his ex-wife, he tries to make amends with his son who he left behind years earlier. Upon their first meeting, his son doesn't think too highly of him until he enters the nation-wide arm wrestling competition in Las Vegas.

Lincoln Hawk (Sylvester Stallone) es un rudo camionero, con escasos recursos económicos; siendo joven, se casó con Christina Cutler (Susan Blakely), hija de un rico hombre de negocios (Robert Loggia), opuesto a su relación. La cosa no salió bien y cada uno siguió su camino...
Michael Cutler (David Mendenhall), hijo de Hawk y de Christina, es un muchacho de 10 años, que se está criando en un ambiente selecto, gracias al dinero de su abuelo. Pero Christina está gravemente enferma y desea que padre e hijo se conozcan. Por eso le pide a Hawk que lo recoja de la academia militar en donde se encuentra y viaje con él, de regreso a casa... para crear una buena relación paterno-filial.
Hawk accede de buen grado, pero su hijo se rebela contra su padre, a quien odia por haberle abandonado: además, el muchacho desprecia los sencillos gustos de su padre, a quien le encanta viajar en camión, comer fast-food y participar en torneos de pulsos.

Si alguien ha leído la explicación del argumento del film y es capaz de encontrarle un mínimo sentido... ¡enhorabuena! La historia es tan tosca (y lo peor: ¡tan previsible, en su final!) que resulta difícil de catalogar. Por cierto: el propio Stallone participó en la redacción del guión... quizá eso lo explique todo.
La trama es sólo apta para gente con verdaderos problemas mentales: que un camionero quiera hacerse amigo de su hijo, al que abandonó al nacer, mientras se entrena para participar en un torneo (qué digo un torneo: ¡¡¡UN CAMPEONATO MUNDIAL!!!) de pulsos es algo tan sumamente kitsch que no merece mayor comentario.
Debo admitir que ver tantos comentarios de otros usuarios, a los que se les lee verdaderamente emocionados con una película de la que el propio Sylvester Stallone dijo "no fue una buena idea participar en ella, fue un error; había demasiado dinero de por medio y creí que podría lograr un buen resultado, pero me equivoqué"... en fin, me hace perder las esperanzas en el género humano.
Capítulo aparte para las interpretaciones: tanto el musculado Sylvester Stallone como el redicho David Mendenhall acaban resultando insoportables. Ambos estuvieron nominados en los premios Razzies de 1988... y el jovencito Mendenhall ganó en dos categorías: Peor Actor de Reparto y Peor Nueva Estrella. Stallone se libró por los pelos...
PD: En esta bazofia de film, tanto en su surrealista argumento como en sus patéticas interpretaciones, ver a la multitud de gañanes que hace las veces de público es una de las cosas más bizarras que he presenciado en mi vida.
