Muy osado el señor Malick por presentar este film de 138 minutos

Y no digo lo de osado por la idea de proponer un "poema visual" sin diálogos, como algunos dicen, sino por hacerlo de una forma tan similar a lo que podría definirse como "el vídeo de introducción a una secta religiosa". Goza de unos efectos visuales magníficos que servirían para acompañar un documental de historia del mundo y de cómo se formó la tierra, que de hecho Malick incluye en su cinta. Sin olvidar que también incluye un par de dinosaurios de peor calidad que los realizados para Jurassic Park (1993).
También consta de buenos planos del cielo y montones y montones de referencias repetitivas hacia "algo" que podría parecer un ente divino. Si te lo crees, bien, de lo contrario estás perdido.
Hay películas que sin usar un dialogo comunican el mensaje que el director espera, y en además en mucho menos tiempo, y sin ser tan pretencioso, como ocurre en (Hierro 3 de Kim Ki-duk); otras usan efectos visuales que juegan con la percepción y la idea de lo que está sucediendo, como ocurre en Paranoid Park (Gus Van Sant con Cristopher Doyle).
El árbol de la vida deja un hueco en tu interior, el de las 2 horas y cuarto que te ha robado para no mostrarte absolutamente nada.
