Típica película bélica de submarinos. En esta ocasión un grupo de americanos tripula un submarino alemán en un "correcaminos" hasta tierras inglesas.
En un género donde lo poco para ofrecer ya se ha visto, U-571 no hace más que acentuarlo. Tensión, claustrofóbia y el clásico pero espantoso ruido del metal de los submarinos antiguos se juntan a lo largo de una película entretenida, pero facilmente olvidable.
