Sin duda alguna, una de las películas - si cabe llamarla así, tal es su incatalogabilidad - más extrañas de la Historia del Cine, un proyecto inacabado de Welles, quien luchó a brochazos y durante 20 años por llevarlo a cabo, un proyecto tipícamente wellesiano, por envergadura, coraje, riesgo y propósitos, que finalizase un cineasta "oficialmente" chapucero como nuestro Jesús Franco. El resultado es tan desordenado e irregular, como de una insolitez enorme y llena de defectuoso encanto.
