Late family drama film by Ieki Miyoji, who had started at Shochiku (first as an assistant for Gosho Heinosuke and Shibuya Minoru, later as a director) but was purged in the early 1950s for suspected communist sympathies. This film was made after he returned to studio filmmaking (at Toei) in the late 1950s.
