- TV Series (2001-2002). 2 seasons. 35 episodes. "Three Sisters" is a comedy about the relationships among three sisters, told from the point of view of the man who married one of them.
When Steven Keats married Bess Bernstein-Flynn, nobody told him he was also marrying her two sisters and parents.
Bess (Katherine La Nasa) is a controling daughter/sister/mother, who does everything possible to make things perfect. Taking care of her newborn baby Charlie and dealing with her husband Steven - who often wonders if he married the entire family instead of just Bess - is not an easy task when you're a working woman. Luckily she can always count on her sisters: Nora (Vicki Lewis, "NewsRadio"), the sarcastic middle sister, a documentary maker that tries to adjust herself to the life in a big city after living for two years in Africa and going through a divorce; and Annie (A.J. Langer, "My So-Called Life"), who seems to be stuck in her teen years - she can't keep a job, she likes to do "cool" stuff, and she's still trying to find out what she wants from life.
Their mother, Honey (Dyan Cannon, "Ally McBeal") is a former Playboy bunny, which has caused a lot of trouble for the girls. The show also stars Peter Bonerz ("The Bob Newhart Show" and director of several shows, including "ER", "Friends", "Murphy Brown", "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", among others) and Edward Kerr. On the second season, Brian Scolaro and later Paul Hipp also became regulars as Gordon (Annie's boss at the bar and her romantic interest) and Elliot (Nora's musician husband), respectively.
One of the most exciting and refreshing comedies of the past years (and for once a NBC show that isn't a Friends clone), Three Sisters got the post-Frasier spot after DAG got bumped up one hour on the 2000-2001 season. Although not delivering stellar numbers, it was one the shows that best retained audience from its famous lead-in. On the 2001-2002 season, NBC seems to have lost faith on the show, placing it on the 8:30pm spot after the horrible and critically doomed Emeril. The lead-in was gone after 7 weeks. Frasier reruns took over until the overly-hyped, troubled and weird Julia Louis-Dreyfuss new comedy/real time dramedy Watching Ellie premiered, placing 3S in a hiatus from which it never came back - even though it drew better ratings than the last episodes of Ellie. The show was shot at Universal City, CA (if you went to Universal Studios, the theme park, there was a sign saying 3S was shot there) and produced by NBC Studios.- Movie Soulmates' ratings
