- A Russian woman working at the embassy in North Korea is in love with Seok-bong, a North Korean who is engaged to someone else. Seok-bong's brother is executed for participating in anti-communist demonstrations. When Seok-bong is also accused of this, he renounces the communist ideology and is killed while attempting to escape to South Korea.
