- Synopsis
- On the banks of the river lives old Puwal (Bishnu Khargoria), who has always made his precarious living ferrying travellers across the muddy waters in his leaky boat. But now progress has arrived, bringing with it bureaucracy, bribes and, in the fullness of time, a bridge which will put Puwal out of business. Puwal's son has long since moved to the city and adopted city ways, foremost among which is a burning desire to dispossess his father of his land, which could be used for a more modern purpose - such as profitable development. Puwal's only companion - and only hope - is his grandson, Hkuman (Arun Nath), who has lived with him since the river swept his parents to their death. The river, source of life and bringer of death...
