Synopsis

Vienna after the Monarchie (WW I). Andreas Plum has been a humble soldier. Now as a war-disabled person he receives a license to run a barrel-organ, which enables him to earn money with street-performances. He gets to know a widow and marries her. After he hits a police-officer he loses his license and his wife, and even has to do time in a prison. At last he his guarding a restroom where he dies eventually.
