Let It Be Morning

Drama Sami thought he found his place in life, but then, without any conceivable reason, the Arab village where he grew up is suddenly surrounded by an ominous wall. Now he is forced to deal with questions of identity and national belonging.

Media Author Review
United States
Variety
"Kolirin forges an actual microcosm through which to examine the social and political status of Israel’s Arab community. The comedy that results is wry and thoughtfully observed"
United Kingdom
Screendaily
"A slyly provocative drama (...) Visually and dramatically, Kolirin makes the most of an increasingly claustrophobic setting heated by rising internal tensions"
United States
Deadline
"[It] may not have the broad appeal of Kolirin’s 'The Band’s Visit', but it’s a quietly atmospheric piece of work with moments of comedy and pathos."
United States
rogerebert.com
"The characters are impeccably acted and written (...) This is one of those movies that expands in the memory, and that tries to err on the side of subtlety, no small feat given the subject matter (...) Rating: ★★★½ (out of 4)"
United States
Los Angeles Times
"It presents a timely, pointed, at times cleverly satirical snapshot of Israeli-Palestinian relations. It also offers an often poignant look at a dysfunctional family at the center of it all"
United States
The New York Times
"Despite flashes of droll humor, the film builds up an undercurrent of suspense, with the prospect of violence always near"
United States
The Washington Post
"The locations of Kolirin's first and latest films are both fictional, but Sami's home village is better grounded in geographic and emotional reality (...) Rating: ★★★ (out of 4)"
United States
The Wrap
"Kolirin has an ability to balance even the darkest experiences with empathetic shades of gray"
Cineuropa
"This new film portrays the current predicament in Israel-Palestine in a slicker, more audience-friendly way, compared to the sundry documentaries on the subject"
