Variety
"Its furious pace, spectacular visuals, and fanciful plot deliver decent escapist entertainment (...) [It] hurtles to more climaxes than it actually needs, easily forgiven on account of the film’s display of technical wizardry"
United States
The New York Times
"It is just as awash in murky computer imagery, stupefying exposition and manipulative sentimentality as the average Hollywood tentpole (...) The only shock of the new is that it’s the same as the old."
United States
rogerebert.com
"A great and uniquely Chinese science fiction film (...) [It] looks better than most American special-effects spectaculars (...) The film's creators breathe new life into hackneyed tropes (…) Rating: ★★★½ (out of 4)"
United Kingdom
Screendaily
"If things get dramatically overwrought on Earth, they fall flat in space (...) It’s apparent that 'The Wandering Earth' has made a giant leap for China’s science fiction cinema but not for the genre itself."
Canada
Screen Anarchy
"A marvel of imagination, inspiration, execution, and excitement (...) The vistas presented in 'The Wandering Earth' are truly stunning, and worthy of the big screen experience"
United States
Forbes
"As a spectacle, it's a knockout. There are breathtaking moments (...) It's a pretty solid sci-fi 'end of the world' adventure"
United States
Slate
"The film’s world building, which takes up much of its first third, is undeniably novel and fascinating (...) It’s also a technical marvel, along with so many of the film’s special effects"
