Media Author Review
United States
Variety
"[A] solidly made but dramatically stifled debut (...) [It] fails to capture the actual psychological awfulness of being trapped too near your nearest and dearest"
United States
Bloody Disgusting
"This is a case where the parts are far greater than their sum (...) Still, McCormick more than capably captivates and commands your attention"
United States
rogerebert.com
"I’m a fan of locked perspective films and 'We Need to Do Something' has one of the most effectively contained POVs in a long time (…) Rating: ★★★ (out of 4)"
United States
IGN
"[It] isn’t worth watching. The screenplay by Max Booth III has all the emotional depth of a toilet bowl. Director Sean King O'Grady shows little skill for crafting scares, much less suspense"
United States
The New York Times
"The power of suggestion is the chosen method for the chaos outside — offscreen voices and noises — but despite some nifty freak-outs, the movie’s buildup can lack a certain snap."
Canada
CBR
"'We Need to Do Something' brilliantly showcases how to properly make a self-contained horror film that feels larger than many big-budget films."
United States
SlashFilm
"O'Grady manages to summon up some moments of real dread, but they're hampered by a goofy tone that keeps forcing its way in"
United States
Slant
"With so much of its drama falling so flat, 'We Need to Do Something' mainly succeeds at suggesting a more compelling film beyond its bathroom walls (…) Rating: ★★ (out of 4)"
Canada
Screen Anarchy
"O'Grady places surprise and horror in the right spots, delivering violence and gore only where he has to. All of this is anchored by an expectantly strong performance by Pat Healy"
United Kingdom
The Guardian
"[It] delivers more whimper than bang in its end-of-the-world horror (...) It's moderately diverting Halloween filler but still way too static to become actually entertaining (…) Rating: ★★ (out of 5)"
