- Synopsis
- Based on a popular Japanese animated series from the 1960s, it follows the adventures of Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch), who seems to have been born to drive racing cars. He is an aggressive and reckless driver. His idol is his brother, the legendary Rex Racer, killed in an accident during a race. Speed supports the family automobile business run by his father (John Goodman), the designer of the powerful Mach 5 race car. When Speed turns down a very lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only angers the company's maniacal owner (Roger Allam), but also uncovers a terrible secret: some of the most important races are being manipulated by heartless businessmen. If Speed doesn't drive for the Royalton team, the Mach 5 will never win a race. If he wants to save the family business and the sport he loves, he'll have to beat Royalton.
