Tercera aventura de Poirot producida por EMI Films y la segunda protagonizada por Peter Ustinov. Si bien no llega a las cotas de las dos anteriores (Asesinato en el Orient Express y Muerte en el Nilo), esta película garantiza entretenimiento y misterio protagonizado por grandes actores y algunos intérpretes "de culto" en agradecidos personajes secundarios, y con algunas escenas memorables.
A destacar la banda sonora, realizada a base de arreglos del magnífico Cole Porter.
