La más afamada superproducción de Samuel Bronston, sobre las andanzas de Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, 'El Cid Campeador', histórico guerrero castellano que combatió al invasor musulmán incluso después de muerto. Rodada íntegramente en nuestro país por Anthony Mann, se presenta épica y melodramática a partes iguales, contando con Charlton Heston de protagonista, Sophia Loren como su amada Doña Jimena y Herbert Lom en la piel del siniestro líder moro.
