A pesar de la exquisita factura que le da al filme la mano sabia de Eastwood resulta un melodrama excesivamente denso, y un thriller lleno de los tópicos habituales en el cine de los últimos años. Probablemente la historia y el guión hacían difícil que se pudiera llegar a otro destino.
