In the 1960s Communist Polish, Anna, a young novice nun, is told by her prioress that before she takes her vows she must visit her only surviving relative. Anna travels to visit her aunt Wanda, a sad, hard-drinking judge who reveals that Anna's actual name is Ida Lebenstein. Ida's parents had been Jews who were murdered late in the Nazi occupation of Poland during World War II.

Film especialmente dirigido a cinéfilos empedernidos del buen cine (Blanco y Negro, Cámara fija en casi todo el film, Dirección a lo Bergman o Welles, etc.). Lástima que el guión no nos cuente una historia que nos atrape durante todo el film. Film para críticos amantes del buen cine. Puntuación 6 sobre 10.
