Francamente no vayan a verla, no les merecerá la pena ni para pasar el rato, incluso te angustias de lo mal rodada que está y de su horrible reparto, encabezado por Brendan Fraser, cada día peor y menos natural. Es una gran pantomima con golpes y tonterías a mogollón y Eric Brevig, pese a ser especialista en efectos especiales no logra comprender el concepto de estética y menos adaptar sin romper la novela de Verne, de la cual pasa olímpicamente.

Ya nos esperábamos poco de esta película, pero al menos fuimos al cine con la esperanza de entretenernos y no ver algo que nos levantara de indignación por sus tremendos disparates, su argumento desilvanado (quien lo iba a decir, partiendo de una novela ejemplar) y sus poco
artísticos efectos especiales. En varias ocasiones se nos intenta dar explicaciones científicas que podría desechar ya no un científico sino un niño de pecho y se nos intenta convencer de la viabilidad del viaje en unos términos ridículos. Asi mismo, nos encontramos con imposibles en el guión (es raro sobrivir a una caída que se prolonga en el vacío durante varios minutos, aunque caigas sobre agua, y todavía aún más que un tren no descarrile cuando cae de un puente roto, sino que pegue un salto y aterrice con precisión milimétrica sobre los raíles de la vía)
Aparte de esto, los actores son para tirarlos al cubo de la basura sin más, empezando por Brendan Fraser, cuyas diversas caras de sorpresa son lo más artificial. En cuanto a la intensidad dramática, es escasa o nula, por lo visto no les crea la más mínima impresión quedar atrapados en un lugar sin aparente escapatoria. Como comedia, es pésima y destacar que en toda la sala no se rió nadie nunca. Más bien parece una farsa de golpes y porrazos.
