A la estrellita le entran ínfulas de artista, y hace una película de autor políticamente comprometida, con un esquemático mensaje de liberalismo izquierdista, al nivel de un tertuliano de María Teresa Campos. En blanco y negro, y con buenas caracterizaciones de actores teatrales, para tener una estética de arte y ensayo que la Academia de Hollywood se tome en serio. La peli logró que George Clooney, junto con Petit y Richard Florida se convirtiera en uno de los ideólogos de cabecera de ZP.
