Based on the medieval narrative poem The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer. It is the second film in Pasolini's 'Trilogy of Life'. The adaptation covers eight of the 24 tales and contains abundant nudity, sex, and slapstick humor. Segunda entrega de la "Trilogía de la vida" de Pasolini. Al igual que la primera entrega, se trata de un conjunto de historias que intentan describir la época renacentista inglesa, basándose en los cuentos de Chaucer. Esta vez los relatos son más oníricos, de una naturaleza más decadente y rozando el puro surrealismo (como la tremenda escena del infierno). Pero todas las historias no están exentas del humor satírico que imprime Pasolini a esta fábula terrenal. Aunque esta vez Pasolini peca de autohomenaje y de aportar pocas ideas nuevas. Mención especial al cápitulo de homanaje al personaje de Chaplin y el capítulo interpretado por una de las hijas de Chaplin.
