Drama. Thriller
On the verge of divorce, wealthy couple David (Fiennes) and Jo (Chastain) are on their way to a lavish weekend party, and accidentally run over and kill a young Moroccan man trying to sell fossils by the roadside. They put his body in their car and arrive at the party at a mansion hosted by a worldly gay couple.

Recientemente vi "Muerte de un ciclista" de Juan Antonio Bardem con ocasión del ciclo que la Filmoteca Española está dedicando al director por su centenario. Viendo esta película de "Los perdonados" no pude evitar establecer comparaciones entre ambas películas: hay un atropello mortal casi al principio de las dos películas; en ambos casos la victima es de una clase social muy inferior a los ocupantes del coche que atropella; igualmente en las dos películas la reacción de la pareja (si en las dos es una pareja) del vehículo tras el atropello es muy similar. Y sigo en la zona spoiler...

...en los dos casos la primera reacción de la pareja es similar: intentar desentenderse del atropello. Pero luego el hombre empieza a tomar conciencia de lo terrible del hecho y a sentirse culpable. Eso le distancia de la mujer que quiere olvidarse del asunto e intentar seguir disfrutando de su vida vacía y llena de lujos. Para colmo el final de ambas historias es muy similar con la muerte de uno o los dos miembros de la pareja causante del accidente. Por supuesto que la intención de los dos directores es la misma: criticar una clase social alta y ociosa que se cree con derecho sobre la vida de los miembros de otra clase social baja y a años luz de ellos en sus condiciones de vida.
Refiriéndome ya solamente a "Los perdonados" diré que el director es valiente al elegir como parte de los claramente "malos" de su película a una pareja homosexual. Parece una buena señal de normalización de la diversidad sexual el que se pueda considerar a los gays como al resto de las personas: los hay buenos y menos buenos.
En cuanto a los marroquíes es de notar que tampoco es una película maniquea. Tampoco son presentados como unas víctimas totalmente inocentes y buenas. Por ejemplo en el primer momento del film se muestra a los dos niños como dispuestos a robar a los turistas extranjeros sin ningún problema.
