"The film is, at times, almost sinfully fun, assuming you have a taste for self-indulgently logic-free hedonism (...) Rating: ★★½ (out of four)"

"If you fell for the 2013 original, then 'Now You See Me 2' has got your number. For the rest of us, however, this longer, louder sequel adds up to what one character calls "a sack of nada.(...) Rating ★★ (out of four)"

"A chance to spend two more hours with characters we like, doing variations on the things that made us like them in the first place. The revisit, in this case, is well-earned."

"Compared with the first film, this one embraces the premise’s essential preposterousness, although not necessarily to winning effect."

"The magic-themed sequel is an even more absurdly implausible caper than the first, but so what?"

"Doubling down on the giddily ridiculous tone of its predecessor, Now You See Me 2 is diverting, but the film’s rampant, cheeky cleverness ultimately proves tiresome"

"'Now You See Me 2' boasts quite the impressive cast (...) Not a one of them escapes the chains of a nearly indecipherable plot, loads of clunky dialogue (...) and so many special effects there’s nothing magical at all about the magic (...) Rating: ★½ (out of four)"
