- Synopsis
- 1982, United Kingdom. An aspiring Japanese-British writer plans to write a book based on her mother Etsuko's postwar experiences in Nagasaki. Etsuko, haunted by the suicide of her eldest daughter, begins to recount her memories of 1952 as a young mother-to-be. The writer finds something in conflict as she confronts the memories of her mother's years in Nagasaki, as well as the memories Etsuko shares with her.
