Aunque el tráiler parezca que Burton se adentra en terrenos juveniles insustanciales tipo Divergente o Harry Potter, nada más lejos de la realidad. Recuerda a Big Fish, a Bitelchus e, incluso, se inspira en El Laberinto Del Fauno.
Todavía se puede ver magia en su cine, todavía hay atisbos de Manostijeras o Ed Wood. Todavía se le ven toques de genialidad.
