Una perspectiva de ochenta años -la película se estrenó en 1938- nos permite rendir justicia a esta entrega de Tarzán por su magnífica ambientación, por su guión sugerente y por la dirección sobria y eficaz de D. Ross Lederman.
Pero hay más.
Ofrece un sentido del humor franco, destila amor a la naturaleza, la trama resulta pertinente, la aventura en la África ignota posee intriga, la acción se estructura en un constante dinamismo y el ritmo mantiene agilidad y viveza durante toda la filmación.

Edgar Rice Burroughs pudo sentirse satisfecho en su momento por esta adaptación y el culto al señor de las lianas añadió un nuevo referente en la pantalla grande.
