Vi el tráiler de esta película y ya desprendía un aire interesante. Tal vez debido a la franqueza con la que se cuenta un hecho cruel como el que acontece (mensaje que puede leerse en las vallas), o también debido a ese aire que le dan esos toques de comedia a un fondo de verdadero drama.
Te capta con la increíble interpretación de Frances McDormand. Te crees lo que ella cuenta, eres ella, esa madre. Vas a exigir lo que ella exige, no es mucho, solo lo justo, justicia.
La historia está bien llevada y si hay que sacarle un pero, es que se vuelve predecible en algunos tramos y en los minutos del final.

Plantea algunas reflexiones interesantes:
- ¿Cuáles son las últimas palabras que le dices a una persona ya que puede que sean las últimas que oiga de ti?
- ¿Cómo sentirse seguro con un policía que aunque se esfuerza no siempre da buen ejemplo y no hacedel todo bien su trabajo?
- ¿Es adecuado el uso de un método como el de las vallas para conseguir el objetivo que plantea la protagonista?
La original idea de las vallas le da a la madre un nexo con su hija. Es no querer despedirse de un ser querido que ha sufrido una terrible tragedia, lo que hace más difícil aún esa despedida (Sobretodo por las últimas palabras que le dedicó). No dejará de armar un buen "jaleo" hasta que se haya zanjado su caso. Porque no puede olvidarse de ello. Y porque tiene que aprender a vivir así. Con ese dolor...
No sólo es la historia de una madre, también la de dos policías:
1º Woody Harrelson: que se enfrenta a sus últimos días de vida. Y decide terminar con ellos por su familia. No quiere ver su sufrimiento reflejado en los ojos de su esposa e hija. Eso le mataría más que la enfermedad. Y no se perdonaría hacerles eso. De ahí su consecuente final. Qué aunque un poco predecible, da un giro con las cartas que deja escritas y el juego que estas darán.
2º Sam Rockwell: que ha tenido una vida difícil, lo ha pasado mal. No le han salido bien la cosas. Pero como dice Harrelson tiene buen corazón y buena intención. Peca un poco de tópico. Papel de policía que no hace bien su trabajo por problemas personales y al final consigue encarrilar su vida para terminar siendo de ayuda.
Bastarán unas cartas de Harrelson y unas pequeñas casualidades (McDormand ve cuando quema la comisaría como Rockwell salva el informe policial del caso de su hija) para encarrilar a estos dos personajes y que así puedan continuar con su vida. Y de esta manera superar el odio y enfado que ambos tienen con el mundo y poder seguir con sus vidas.
Tal vez, lo más destacable de la película sea ek impecable papel de McDormand y el buen giro que da la película a raíz de la muerte de Harrelson con las cartas que deja escritas. No obstante, el ritmo de la película consigue mantenerse firme y captar la atención todo el tiempo.
En definitiva, película de humor negro directa. Qué se hace amena y dónde el buen guión hace que todo ruede perfectamente, cómo en la escena final McDormand y Rockwell.
