Cuando el otro día ví esta película, tenía cierta esperanza en que fuera algo interesante con lo que además de pasar el rato también aprendiese algo de historia, que nunca está de más. De hecho al leer su sinopsis me pareció un tema poco visto en los filmes de hoy día y por ello bastante atractivo.
Mis ilusiones acabaron rápidamente cuando empecé a ver que algo fallaba. Así, me encontré con una película que, ni es de amor, ni es de guerra, ni es de historia, ni tiene un fondo moral ni tiene...¡¡¡NADA DE NADA!!!!

Lo cierto es que me resultó muy pretenciosa, porque quería todo y no lograba nada. El prometedor inicio con el enfrentamiento entre los buques de guerra, con esas escenas de amputaciones, miembros sangrantes, caos y desazón en alta mar hace que te imagines que lo que viene a continuación no puede por menos de ser una película cruda, real y entretenida. Sin embargo, al poco rato la triste realidad asoma y te sitúa en un mundo de bailes de salón, mujeres (y hombres) florero con perfiles poco definidos y con un papel deplorable, batallas cutres, discursos supuestamente alentadores y, lo que es más peligroso, evocaciones del amor y de romanticismo vacías, sin base fáctica en la película o que si la tienen desde luego están muy escondidas.
Para empezar, sobra esa copa que se cae al suelo, sobra lo de que estén rodando una película, sobran esas declaraciones de amor cursis que duran 10 segundos y que no van acompañadas de actos algunos (y desde luego, yo soy el marido de la Vasilievna y veo que el almirante, por muy almirante que sea, va a besar a mi mujer en público y lo primero que hago es partirle la cara), todos eran muy civilizados cuando no tenían que serlo (Anna Vasilievna deja empantanado al bigotes en medio del tren y el otro tan sereno??), sobran las últimas palabras del general al que le amputan las piernas tras haber dicho algo antes como "debemos seguir adelante por Rusia" ("¿por qué me tuve caer con el caballo?" WTF!!!), sobran esos elogios de la antigua Rusia sin fundamento al que agarrarse dentro de la película más que el sermón del tio en medio de la nieve proclamándose Soberano Supremo de Rusia (de hecho, en ella se hace más comprensible la posición de los soviéticos que la de los zaristas, acostumbrados a tanto baile de salón, tanta nobleza y tanto discurso)...en realidad, visto bien, puede sobrar perfectamente todo, porque el director no ha tenido claro en ningún momento QUÉ era esta película ni CÓMO quería que el público la interpretase, y por eso se queda en un batiburrillo de pretensiones y errores cinematográficos tan sólo pasable por la fotografía y las vestimentas de los actores.
Poco más que decir.
