Thriller. Film noir
George, after getting out of prison, begins looking for a job, but his time in prison has reduced his stature in the criminal underworld. The only job he can find is to be a driver for Simone, a beautiful high-priced call girl, with whom he forms an at first grudging, and then real affection. El Neil Jordan de los comienzos adora los bajos fondos y los outsiders. Aparte del fantástico, otras de sus constates, siempre ha tenido inclinación por seres marginados y amores imposibles o directamente tormentosos. "Mona Lisa" es la obra que lo lanzó a la órbita y posteriormente, ha reincidido en personajes situados en el lado malo de la ley o de la moral. Pasa en "Juego de lágrimas" o "Un buen ladrón".
