La película al principio promete, quizá demasiado. Empieza como Robinson Crusoe, continúa como Frankenstein tocando dilemas morales y acaba cómo Titanic en una historia de amor y sacrificio, el problema es que tiene poco de cada cosa. Por lo demás la lawrence se come sola la película y fishburne totalmente prescindible.
