Woody Allen parece haber metido la mano en el fondo de su cajón de historias por contar y, de un puñado, haber sacado las que acabarán por descomponer, más que componer, A Roma con Amor.

Aunque la película es totalmente prescindible, me quedo de ella con algo que hacia tiempo observaba en el cine de Allen, y que aquí encontramos de forma especialmente concentrada: me refiero a ese mensaje subliminal suyo dirigido a las parejas, sobre todo a su parte masculina, de "confórmate con lo que tienes". Ya fue en su día la moraleja de Balas sobre Broadway, pero parece que el tema repiquetea, quizás inconcluso, en la cabeza del gran director. Y poco más; este nexo común es el pobre extracto con el que tenemos que contentarnos de la por otro lado deshilachada experiencia romana. Tan sólo puedo añadir el curioso contraste que al respecto se da entre esta película y la posterior, Blue Jasmine, en la que el personaje principal sufre precisamente por todo lo contrario: por no poder retener lo que ya tenía. ¿Castigo Alleniano?
