El film descansa en lo sensible, dramático y emocional caso real de John Nash y su deseo de dar a conocer su dolorosa y triste historia (ya escrita en el 1998 por la periodista Sylvia Nasar) y las extraordinarias actuaciones de Russell Crowe (“Gladiator” 2000), Jennifer Connelly (“Requiem for a Dream” 2000), Ed Harris (“Pollock” 2000), Paul Bettany (“A Knight's Tale” 2001), Christopher Plummer (“The Insider” 1999), Judd Hirsch ("Taxi" 1978-1983) y Josh Lucas (“Sweet Home Alabama” 2002).
