In boot camp, they are trained as water purifiers. While in camp, they meet the feisty Christine who takes no guff from men and Fred who is afraid of everything. The foursome are called to active duty and positioned in the deserts of Chad. Through a great mix up, they find themselves driving a water tanker behind Libyan enemy lines. -
"Whatever Shore wants to do in the movie business is his business, but the feeling here is that he could expand his audience beyond the teen set if he were to laugh at himself a little bit more."
-
"There's no satire, no farce, no wit -- just dumb utterances and whimsical slapstick."
-
"This is Hollywood combat at its most irritatingly banal."
-
"Being an appealing, shallow goof-off can wear thin, and Shore seems incapable of carrying a movie, even when it's a 90-minute knock-off like this"
-
"[An] abysmal knockoff of Stripes."
-
"Shore's character -- an immature, SoCal mall rat--may have been tolerable introducing videos on MTV, but 90 straight minutes of his lackadaisical schtick borders on torture."
-
"Putting Mr. Shore under the authority of a pretty female drill sergeant (Lynn Whitfield) is, along with that bad haircut, one of this film's only ways of getting laughs."
